    Dear Brothers and Sister:

I am a proud Southerner and each of you should be as well. However, I am first a proud American and secondly a proud Teamster.

As Southerners we poses an unrivaled work ethic, resilience and compassion for our neighbors during times of need. True Southerners are honorable, hospitable and never turn their backs on those less fortunate and we damn sure do not tolerate discrimination or racism. These are traits which are also possessed and exhibited by true Teamsters

Teamsters should be proud of the legacy we have inherited. In 1959, Teamsters Local 878 President Odel Smith and Local 878 Teamsters made the decision to actively stand against those who would seek to oppress our fellow Arkansans at the voting polls. GeneralPresident James R. Hoffa dedicated his life to raising the standard of living of all working Americansregardless of their color or creed and created a previously non-existent working class.

?Because we are Americans first, we have an obligation to stand against those who seek to oppress any individual. The ignorant cowards who choose to promote hatred under the banner of white nationalism are not our friends. At best they are ignorant, at worst cowardly terrorists. I know many of you, as I, lost family members and family friends because they accepted the call to defend the rights of freedom and equality for all, against fascism and Nazi aggression.

History will judge each of us for the positions we take today. I pray our children and grandchildren will look back with pride upon the example each of us set during this very dark time as we stand united to defend the defenseless, promote equality for all Americans and fight for everyone to share in the American Dream. Today, I choose be remembered by future generations of  Teamsters for standing in defiance of oppression and evil. I ask each of you to join me.

    Fraternally,

    Tim Nichols

    President
